Senior Accountant
To supervise the financial documents, accounting entries and monthly accounts reconciliation and identify financial discrepancies in line with strategic objectives of Kun Sports and legal requirements
Experience & qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or any equivalent discipline from a recognized educational institution.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an accountant in a corporate environment
Knowledge & skills
- In-depth knowledge of International and National Accounting Standards (IFRS, SOCPA, etc.)
- Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA or CIMA/CMA qualifications are ideal
- Proven track record in financial reporting, financial accounting, financial management and financial analysis is needed.
- Ensure effective cash and bank management operations, including management of petty cash in order to record all incoming and outgoing cash flow for review as required
- Prepare cash flow reports, estimated budgets for units or any other financial report as necessary
- Supervise the execution of the daily accounting activities required to maintain the general ledger
- Generate accounts payable and account receivable reports as required in order to create transparency and allow for leadership input
- Supervise and review cash disbursements, payments and invoices as necessary
- Develop general ledger reports related to journal vouchers summaries, variance analysis, period closing, etc.
- Contribute to the development of Kun Sports’s accounting and financial models
- Support in resolving any discrepancies and questions related to the recording of general ledger transactions or any other accounting related problem to ensure they are accurate and free of errors
- Secure financial information by completing data base backups to ensure no data is lost
- Generate Kun Sports’s accounts receivable aging reports and estimate provisions required for long outstanding receivables in order to follow up and resolve those accounts
- Remain abreast of latest International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and other laws and regulations (e.g. SOCPA regulations) in order to ensure that Kun Sports’s accounting activities are in conformity with accepted practices
- Ensure confidentiality in key financial data, office files, records, and documents
- Prepare reports and analyze data periodically and as requested and submit to the leadership in order to support in decision making
- Report any operational risks and roadblocks to the achievement of office objectives and targets. Recommend corrective action in order to minimize operational interruptions and ensure the timeliness of objective and target achievement
- Provide input to Leadership as required and as per the approved governance process, for the purpose of budget formulation
- Ensure that the approved budget is being allocated as per the plans and highlight any deviation actual / foreseen to management
- Provide guidance to reportees on operational matters with mentoring and coaching, when necessary, in order to ensure that they are well equipped to tackle the operational requirements from a professional and behavioral standpoint
- Provide performance management support to new team members
- Maintain regular communication with internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure that the professional needs are met in a timely and efficient manner
- Ensure regular communication with the lead member to keep him up to date with the work done and proactively raise issues to avoid any delays in delivery
